Stereo Naked cover a mixture of genres, dishing up everything from American Roots music to experimental indie pop. Lyrics and music are set to clash and surprise: cheery yodelling with a side order of existentialism, tongue-in-cheek murder ballads, hip-hop licks delivered bluegrass style. The raw acoustic warmth of bass and banjo adds depth and dark humour to an electronic pop ambience.
Black&Jules is a songwriting collaboration between New Zealand-born double bass player Pierce Black and banjo and voice artist Julia Zech, who splits her time between Cologne and Paris. Their shared history with the bluegrass scene plays itself out in their sets, as snatches of Appalachian folksong play between original tracks.
