Polyphonea is a workshop cycle of Greek traditional music that will take place once a month in the cozy environment of Art Base, Brussels, with the main idea of creating a new music ensemble in Brussels. An ensemble inspired by the Greek tradition and the musical elements that keep it alive till now, under the guidance of Panos Skouteris. Briefly, the aim is to educate and share general & technical knowledge about the approach and function of the different instruments in the many musical expressions of Greece’s traditional music. The workshops this year will focus on the musical traditions of the mainland and mountains of Greece. Workshop's Dates: Apr 28th / 10 am-13 pm Min/Max participants : 4 - 15. Price pp for workshop: 50E Panos Skouteris was born in 1997 and raised in Athens. He started clarinet studies at the age of 12. He studied with the most well-known clarinet players in Greece, such as Petro-Loukas Chalkias, Nikos Filippidis, Alexandros Arkadopoulos etc. Simultaneously, he started studying the Greek type of bagpipes, Thracian & Macedonian gajda and Cycladian & Dodecanesian tsambouna. His interest in older music textures led him his second Bachelor's in Codarts - at the University of Applied Sciences in Rotterdam, focusing on the performing styles and the historical background of Classical Ottoman Music.
