MARIOS STROFALIS: PIANO & COMPOSITIONS
The first part of this evening will feature music and songs by Marios
Strofalis from cinema, television and his CD’s "European Taxim I & II",
("The Secret Garden with the Flowers of Good" and the trilogy
"Heroographies" both created with Eirini Toumpaki.) With singers Eirini
Toumpaki and Teti Kassioni he will perform some of his successful songs
for cinema and television.
The second part will be a tribute to 100 years of Mikis Theodorakis with
a presentation of the most important works of his musical poetry. George
Athanasiou will accompany on classical guitar and the vocal ensemble
“Les Mers Ouvertes” will frame the concert as well.

Marios Strofalis is a multi-awarded soundtrack and tango composer,
pianist and accordionist with a great discography whose tango
compositions have met international acceptance. He was recognized
internationally as the creator of the well-traveled Habanera and the
collections "European Taxim" as well as the valses and tango included in
the music collections of his quartet. He holds a diploma in piano,
composition and biology in Athens. He completed his musical studies in
Paris. He was recently introduced to us again with the tv song
"Fugitive Love" in greek “Έρωτας Φυγάς” (voice & lyrics Eirini
Toumpaki.) His songs have been performed by some of the most important
Greek singers as Giorgos Dalaras, Tanya Tsanaklidou, Dimitra Galani,
Vasilis Lekkas, Christos Thebaios, Yiannis Koutras, Melina Kana,
Dionysis Tsaknis, Martha Moreleon, Irene Toumpaki etc.
Eirini Toumpaki, a singer with a long course in folk, Smyrneiko,
rebetiko, melodic poetry. She started her musical journey from the
legendary Café Chantant of Rhodes to then pass to other folk music
scenes of Greece, but also to large venues in many countries. She is a
graduate of contemporary singing and in 2007 she won the 2nd prize at
the Thessaloniki festival. Since 2008, she has been the main
collaborator of Babis Tsertos, while at the same time, she has been
chosen as the singer of the musical group "Contra tempo", which
specializes in the songs of Giorgos Zambetas. Since 2009, she has been a
principal collaborator of the conductor and composer Apollon
Kouskoumvekakis, the Exarchia Mandolinata and the Athens Chamber
Orchestra. Since 2013, she has been participating in concerts and CD’s
of Panagiotis Kalantzopoulos.
Teti Kassioni is a singer and songwriter. She studied contemporary
singing and French literature. Her career began as a singer in various
orchestras and venues in Greece, and then she pursued her concerts
throughout the whole of Europe. She has collaborated in concerts and
recordings with several composers and lyricists, such as Lina
Nikolakopoulou, Marios Strofalis, Dionysis Tsaknis, Nikos Laliotis,
Nikos Doukas, Elias Papakonstantinou and others. She has released two
personal albums and she has participated as composer and singer in many
other collective albums. She has composed the music for the poems of the
Greek poet Elias Papakonstantinou and she has arranged them in the
French language. She has also arranged in French a part of the songs of
Lina Nikolakopoulou that have been presented in concerts in Europe in 2024.
