Khaled Abed is a Palestinian artist, based in Vienna, Austria.
His passion for Arabic music and the art of maqam interpretation in the form of taqasim is revealed in his virtuosity as an oud player. He has been studying with the Iraqi Maestro Asim Al-Chalabi since 2007 and plays an oud made by the world renowned oud maker Yarob Mohamed Fadel. Khaled Abed's tenor spinto voice and and his virtuosity as an oud player bring together two worlds in a single person. As a musician, Khaled Abed’s interest extends beyond the interpretation of musical works and, thus, he has taken up composition. Khaled Abed has a Bachelor of Arts in Oriental Studies from the University of Vienna, and is currently writing his Masters thesis in Arabic Studies. Having an exceptional insight and interest in languages and grammar, his writings encompass both philosophical and literary texts
as well as poetry in three languages.
Khaled Abed is also a tenor – tenore spinto – and sings opera in the tradition of Italian bel canto. Currently, he is studying with Maestro Bojidar Nikolov – a Chamber singer of the Vienna State Opera – and is enrolled at the
Richard Wagner Conservatory in Vienna.
