The first question everyone should ask would be : « what is the meaning of
erämaa » ? It’s a Finnish word that can be translated into wilderness or
desert.
There’s one important thing with this chamber music formula, there’s few
pieces composed for it, but each piece is cult piece, L’histoire du Soldat
by Igor Stravinsky, Contrastes by Bela Bartok, even Berg with the
adaptation of the Adagio… Those pieces are the starting point of our
travel, on a very known place, and to see how these pieces influenced
Gilbert Amy when he wrote En Trio for the same ensemble.

After this starting point, the goal of this ensemble is to explore the
wild landscape of contemporary and experimental music through the
exploration of the new fertile ground represented by the young composers !
