'Meltem' is a pleasant breeze blowing over the Aegean Sea and Asia Minor coast during the summer months. A wind that carries sounds, songs, flavours, stories from the one place of eastern Mediterranean to another.
Formed in Codarts University of the Arts in Rotterdam, Meltem Trio comprises of three of the most sought-after instrumentalists of Mediterranean music scene.

Alexandros Papadimitrakis – oud, Greek lute

Michalis Kouloumis – violin

Highlights of their careers have been collaborations such as with Kudsi Ergüner, Ross Daly, Efren Lopez, Sokratis Sinopoulos, Paco Peña, Jose Manuel León, Rima Khcheich among others, where they have performed in numerous festivals and concert venues in Europe.

Meltem Trio blend the sounds of Istanbul, Aegean Sea and Middle East together with their compositions & improvisations, portraying a musical journey that captures audiences' attention.

Michalis Kouloumis will lead a 3-day violin workshop focused on Greek/Turkish music as part of the “Fiddlers On The Move” festival in De Centrale (Ghent) on the 3rd, 4th and 5th of March.
