KAITI KOULLIA ‘BLUE HORIZON’ GREEK ISLAND SONGS

Description

Kaiti Koullia, great singer of traditional music, accompanies us to the deep roots of Greece, to the Aegean See and Asia Minor. She will be assistes on this journey by two virtuose musicians, KYRIAKOS GKOUVENTAS( violin) and VASILIS SMANIS( lute and voice).
The blue, the light, the horizon are words and images that always function as a balm on the soul of our life.
The same thing goes for the songs of Kaiti' s homeland Kalymnos and other islands, that have light in them and speak of love, pain and joy.
Kaiti Koullia was born on the island of Kalymnos in the Southeast Aegean.
She spent her childhood on her island, and then went to Athens to study at the music department of the Athens University. Very soon she started to play with known musicians, and her carreer took off from there.
Now she has been playing for years with famous musicians such as Hronis Aidonidis, Domna Samiou, Savina Giannatou, Nena Venetsanou, Giorgos Dalaras, Manolis Mitsias, Lavrentis Mahairitsas etc.
She has recorded 6 personal records and participated in many more with other musicians.
She also presents performances for children, such as ‘Songs from the deep’( Tragoudia ap’ton bytho), recognized as an educational program by the Department of Education.
