SABA is the name of some sort of breeze in Iran in the morning. It brings the fresh air from the mountains. We are working on original melodies from Middle East as well as folk songs and our own compositions based on the lyrics from our countries. The framework for each song is the same as the original songs, but we improvise according to the core melodies. It's the sound of Middle East brought to Belgium by SABA.
The idea is to share our musical experiences with others in order to express our feelings based on the melodies and motifs from Middle East. In addition, we are trying to show a better view of Middle East compared to what we see/hear every day on media. We believe that the beauty of music will soften people's attitude toward other nations and makes a nice atmosphere to enjoy being together and learn from each other. Also free improvisation over maqams from Iranian/Syrian folk/traditional music.
