Pt. Debaprasad Chakraborty is one of the finest Sitar exponents of India.
He is recognised as one of the leading performer of the instrument and a
messiah of this great art. Born in a family of musical tradition,
Debaprasad started grooming at the age of 5 under his father Pt. Adhindra
Mohan Chakraborty, also received rigorous training from Pt. Ajay Sinha Roy
in the Style of playing which is widely known as “Baba Alauddin Khan’s
“Senia Maihar gharana”. Then for some time, he received valuable training
from Pandit Gokul Nag of Bishnupur Gharana. Pt. Debaprasad has enriched
his music based on “dhrupad style”. His imaginative sense, creative
musical wit and brilliant performance are well taken by his listeners.
Deba Prasad is a “TOP Grade" Artist of All India Radio and Television.
Deba Prasad had received several Private and Government sponsored awards.
A few references are: “SURMANI” title from Sur Singar Samsad, Mumbai.
“SANGEET RATNA” title from Bangiya Sangeet Parisad, Calcutta.
Deba Prasad always maintains to enrich his music based on the “Dhrupad
Style”. He has developed a musical personality in a most individual way.
Deba Prasad is specialised on “Senia Maihar gharana” His imagination,
sense, creative musical wit and brilliant style of performance are bound
to attract more and more attention in the days to come.
An All India Radio Grade A Artist, Sandip Banerjee is playing tabla sin
1973.  He is well known for his graceful accompaniment and powerful adept
solo performance. Besides his frequent trips to abroad, to perform lecture
and conduct workshops he is a regular T.V. and Radio artist I India.
Sandip was awarded ‘National Scholarship’ from the Government of India in
1992. He is an enlisted artist in ICCR( Indian Council for Cultural
Relation) in professional category and SPIC MACAY.  He has several CDs
with different artists in India and abroad. His book on learning Tabla
titled ‘Le Tabla’ has been published from ID Music, France. This book is
also available in English now.
He has learned tabla from Late Pandit Kanai Dutta, Pandit Sanjoy
Mukherjee(over 20 years) and pandit Sankha Chatterjee. Lovers of Indian
Classical music around the world will continue to be enthralled by this
first class mature and powerful performing artist now and in the years to
come.
