DescriptionThe Choro is a music that was born from the meeting of European dance music (polkas, mazurkas, waltzes, or schottisch and quadrille ...) with African musics brought by slaves (lundu), in the nineteenth century. The Portuguese court is then on the run (1807), and moved to Rio, which will become the capital - cultural also.
These European music played by Afro-descendants will gradually become the Choro, keeping the form of the rondo interpreted in a more rhythmic way, also improvised. The first Brazilian urban music was born, a rich instrumental music, often virtuoso and very lively, both erudite and popular. The first groups consisted of a flute (ebony), a cavaquinho (small four-string guitar) and one (or two) guitar(s). The Duo Delicado interprets this music using different flutes, from bass to piccolo, to cover a wide range of sound, as well as the seven-string guitar, an instrument very used in the choro and typical for its play that integrates the bass lines and the agreements. The double bass is also used to bring a more jazzistic influence to this duo who travels between the delicacy of chamber music and more festive music influenced by samba. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6wUogpwhtGwKYV1P3cVrBw EventList powered by schlu.net |
