The concert will be in two parts. In the first part Assad en Bert will play each a solo piece, after a break they will play together. Accompaniments will be by Carlo Strazzante.
ASAD QIZILBASH is a recognized master on the sarod, the Indian fretless lute. He started playing the violin at the age of eight, and changed to the sarod as soon as he discovered this instrument. He has performed on many festivals and gave numerous concerts on TV, radio etc.
BERT CORNELIS studied the sitar with his master Pt. Ashok Pathak for almost 20 years, consequently continuing the particular style of the Pathak Gharana. He also did academic studies at the University of Allahabad, India. He performs regularly in India, Europe, the US.
CARLO STRAZZANTE plays Indian percussion instruments for many years and toured on the Asian continent regularly. At this concert he will be playing a combination of the Indian tabla and the African udu, a terra cotta bass drum from Nigeria.
