Using the richness of their diverse musical journeys, where a
multiplicity of airs and feelings of belonging intermingle, Christos
Barbas and Nabil Naïr bring a very particular musical proposal, not only
for its format and instrumentation, but also for its sound character and
the place from which it touches us. Having delved into the modal music
of the Greek – Turkish and Mediterranean traditions, they rediscover
their similar affinities for the beauty of the melodies, the atmospheres
of delicate minimalism and the strength of rhythmic games.

 From the intimacy and fragility of the duo format, which gives them a
lot of space to occupy -or to leave blank-, they believe in the growing
need to generate such places and they create and share original
compositions to explore these crossroads, structured by a singular
sensitivity, by listening and freedom in improvisation. To paraphrase
the Franco-Lebanese writer Amin Maalouf, what makes them themselves and
not others is that they are somewhere straddling different lands,
several languages and a wide range of musical traditions.
That is their identity.
