Sandip Chatterjee has been a pupil of the eminent santoor player Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya since 1980. The last ten years he also took lessons in “Ragdari” and “Layakari” from vocal techniques master Pandit Ajay Chakraborty. Sandip Chatterjee has performed in many major concerts and music festivals all over India, and he toured abroad for music concerts and lecture demonstrations in England, Germany, Holland, Italy, Belgium, France, Austria, Jordania, Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore etc. He also collaborated with jazz musicians in Italy where he was part of the group ‘SHANTI’ that performed in several jazz festivals. SHANTI has been recorded and released by World Space Records in Italy and in India by Sagar Music with the title “RAGA in ROME”. Sandip Chatterjee received the prestigious President of India Award, the Jadubhatta Award, and the Kalaratna Award, and has been acclaimed by the connoisseurs as one of the most talented and established santoor players in India.
