Winner of the Asian Peace Award for Performing ArtsMoumita Ghosh started learning Odissi dance from the age of 8 under the guidance of Smt. Madhavi Mudgal at the Gandharva Mahavidyala, New Delhi . A keen interest, study and practice of the style have helped her understanding the art form under her Guru's supervision. She has also attended periodic Odissi workshops conducted by the late Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra and has emerged as a promising young soloist of this style. Moumita has taken the Visharad Poorna degree in Odissi dance conducted by the Akhil Bhartiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal, Mumbai. She gave her first solo recital in the Sopan Festival organized by the Sahitya Kala Parishad - a festival for upcoming artistes - in the year 2000 in Delhi. She has also participated in Spic Macay programmes of Odissi dance in Delhi school's and colleges. She has served as a faculty member at the Gandharva Mahavidyalay, Delhi to train junior students. She had been invited by the Shaida school of classical and contemporary dance in south of Belgium under the cultural exchange programme "East meets West".
