Dive into a world where color and sound are intertwined, alongside pianist Sterre Hond. Experience classical music in a way you've never imagined before, filled with personal stories, color, and interaction. In this interactive piano concert, sound and color are connected. Sterre Hond (22) is a young pianist and composer with synesthesia, a condition where the senses work together in a unique way. Through her synesthesia, she perceives colors in different tones and harmonies while playing the piano. During this concert, Sterre takes the audience into her world where color and sound are literally linked. She achieves this by performing her own compositions, described as cinematic, alongside works by Brahms, Debussy, and Mozart.
Sterre Hond is currently in her final year of studies at the Rotterdam Conservatory under pianist Bart van de Roer. She participated in recording the music for the Broadway show 'The Pianist' in New York. Additionally, she has won several awards, including the international 'Young Talent Prize' at the Festival D'Anniviers in Switzerland. In 2023, Sterre was featured on the Dutch radio NPO Klassiek, where she discussed her synesthesia and showcased her own work. Since September 2023, Sterre has been collaborating with film composer Alex Simu, an internationally acclaimed clarinetist, saxophonist, and composer.
